Anatomy of an illness (As Perceived by the Patient)

I've had this book on my shelf since it was recommended reading for my holistic studies training at TAC. My step mom picked it up for me at a second hand book shop. It's only 160pages and a nice easy read that reaffirms a lot of what I learned in class.

It has some nice quotes and shares feedback from the medical journal article that Cousins published at an earlier date.
My favourite story in the book is about a pianist who after every sleep and nap can hardly move due to arthritis but upon reaching his piano and moving his hands to his favourite songs he becomes free of the pain and chains of his illness. That alone is worth the read.

If you don't have time to read it the most important lesson is to laugh your way through life and be assertive when it comes to what you feel is best for your healing process.

One Hundred Years Of Solitude

By: Gabriel Garcia Marquez

The most epic novel I have read. This quote sums up how I feel about it.

William Kennedy, of New York Times Book Review:

“It’s the first piece of literature since the Book of Genesis that should be required reading for the entire human race… Mr Garcia Marquez has done nothing less than to create in the reader a sense of all that is profound, meaningful, and meaningless in life.”

Although it took me about four tries over a few years to actually get past the first few chapters I'm so glad to have read it. Really an amazing book

Kensington Market

Kensington is always a good place to be on a nice day. I recommend getting a large sweet potato burrito at Big Fat Burrito, eat it in the park.

The Superheroes of kindness

HuffPost Greatest Person Of The Day: Kristal Burns And The Superheroes Of Kindness

...

“Well, they loved superheroes,” Kristal said. So, she thought, what if we created a group of superheroes whose powers were based around spreading kindness? Could it be that easy?

...

Immediately, Kristal said, the kids began to feel the impact they were having. "I remember one girl gave her flower to a stranger and then just started crying. I asked her what was wrong and she said, 'My heart just feels so good right now.'"

...

teacher has not only inspired the kids in her pre-K classroom to focus, she’s given them a tangible way to spread human kindness on a daily basis.

She's also given them capes. “The capes are very important," Kristal Burns, the creator of Superheroes of Kindness and teacher at the Missoula Community School, told the Huffington Post. “Without the capes, I don’t think this would have worked.”

MY very own SONG!!!

My friend, the amazingly talented Tara Rice, wrote this song and then directed the music video with lots of red wine. I am so honoured!! I can't believe I have my own song. Top of my charts ;) Nothing can top the ridiculousness that was the making of, or the hangover that followed. Hehehe I think the video really keeps it true to my personal motto:
'As long as someones laughing'
